The team at Wantirna Mall Dental Surgery is experienced in providing a broad range of dental solutions that suit the needs of all ages. If you are missing multiple teeth or all of your teeth, we can provide comfortable, modern dentures in full or partial form that allow you to speak and eat as you’d like.

Which Type of Dentures Do You Need?

Older woman with white hairA partial denture can replace a single lost tooth or a grouping of multiple missing teeth in the lower or upper jaw. The device attaches to remaining teeth with metal clasps or precision attachments. The precision attachments are costlier but are nearly invisible for an aesthetically pleasing look. If needed, we can fit the neighbouring teeth with a dental crown first to improve the fit of a partial denture.

A full denture replaces the entire upper arch, the entire lower arch or both arches. If you have any teeth remaining, they can be pulled before your denture fitting. Your gum tissue will then be allowed a healing period before you begin wearing your dentures.

What to Expect

If you’d like to be fitted for dentures, we recommend that you begin by booking a consultation at our practice. We’ll check the condition of any remaining teeth and examine your mouth as a whole, doing all necessary preparations. Then, we can discuss options such as a fixed bridge, dental implant or denture depending on what your situation is. We’ll talk about our recommendations and let you choose what you think is the best solution for you.

The necessary impressions are taken of your teeth, then sent to our laboratory, where they will be created. After they’ve been fabricated, the dentures are sent back to us so that they can be fitted to you. We’ll make any needed adjustments, and you’re welcome to return regularly for an assessment of the fitting to ensure that they sit perfectly in your mouth.
